The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has named both the GMC Acadia and the GMC Terrain as Top Safety Picks for 2011 within the large SUV and midsize SUV categories respectively. To be named Top Safety Picks, each vehicle had to earn perfect "Good" scores in four different test categories: frontal offset, side impact, rear crash, and now-standard roof strength.
