Chrysler Sneaks New Minivan into Detroit Auto Show

The Chrysler Town & Country has been one of the most popular minivans in the country for years. Chrysler has continuously set the bar for safety, reliability and performance in the family-friendly van segment. But, it's no secret that shoppers around the country are searching for something that's a bit different from the traditional minivan. Which is why Chrysler has been quietly working on some new concepts that could change the minivan's "soccer mom" reputation.

And they're going about it an unusual way, too. Without fanfare or any big announcements, Chrysler snuck their 700C concept into their display at this year's North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), just to see what people say about it. It's unlike any minivan we've ever seen before, and even though it's only in the beginning stages of development, it has us geared up for the next generation of minivans from Chrysler.

We don't really know much else about it, unfortunately. Chrysler only decided to add it to their display two weeks before the show, and it doesn't even have a powertrain yet. The 700C sports a black fiberglass hood and a pretty fierce-looking B-pillar, which isn't something that's likely to make it to production. However, Patrick Hespen from Chrysler Communications has confirmed that the styling hints at a direction Chrysler is likely to take with future minivans.

But really what Chrysler wants to know is how you feel about it, because that's really what's most important, after all. So, what do you think? Are you a minivan purist or are you looking forward to some changes to this lineup standard?
