Cadillac ATS, The Next Small Luxury Auto

January brings us to Detroit, and the #1 one auto show of the year. Cadillac has introduced their 2013 ATS, set below Cadillac CTS, at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. The American luxury auto maker hopes to become a top competitor in small car sales. GM noticed the growth of small luxury two years ago, when plans for smaller concept vehicles began.

"It is strategically a very important product for Cadillac," said Ed Kim, director of industry analysis at AutoPacific Inc., a Tustin automotive consulting firm. "Cadillac wants younger buyers to come into the fold, and they hope to move them up through the brand."1

GM has developed several powerful engines for ATS: a 2-liter, turbocharged four cylinder, producing 270 horsepower. We've also heard reports of a normally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder, along with 3.6-liter V6 options on board ATS.

The 2013 ATS will come to Stan McNabb Automotive - 2000 N Jackson St in Tullahoma, TN later this year. With other car makers selling hundreds of thousands of small, stylish vehicles annually, it's about time Caddy get in on the game.
